Our instructors have all taken the Commit to Kids. We are currently developing policy using guidelines from Commit to Kids to ensure our program creates a culture of safety in which employees/volunteers feel confident in both their interactions with children and their decision making when it comes to reporting inappropriate behaviour.
The Commit to Kids program helps child-serving organizations reduce the risk of sexual abuse and create safer environments for children in their care.
The program’s tools provide organizations with information on the issue of child sexual abuse which forms the basis for educated policies and procedures — from hiring and screening to reporting and staff training. This enables all employees and volunteers throughout an organization to uphold standards of conduct that protect children and youth in their care by focusing on healthy interaction between adults and children.
Our instructors are all trained as a Signal for Helo Resonder. For more information please visit The Canadian Women's Foundation.
The Canadian Women’s Foundation created the Signal for Help — a simple one-handed gesture that can be used to silently reach out for support. We also created the Guide to help you learn how you can support a friend, family member, or colleague who is experiencing abuse. This guide can help save lives.
Our instructors are always trained in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training. The course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines.
